One two three four

We bumped into Ida from W+K tonight after AHA! and we must say, we're gettin more and more excited every single hour that draws us closer to monday, to our placement at Wieden+Kennedy. 4 days left. We can't wait.

Online Vote: Do you think J&W will get hired at W&K?

Yes

or

No

Anonymous said...

No

Anonymous said...

no (just being honest)

Wal, have you anything lined up after W&K? and how long can you cope with the placement scene?

Anonymous said...

I'm gonna say yes...but, from an interested observers point of view, in order to seal the/a deal they need to stop going to so many advertising events and knuckle down work-wise. Of course, meeting people is a positive thing, and they do come across very well, but ultimately now is the time to just work their arses off. That's my humble opinion. They have great potential. Good luck chaps...sorry for talking about you as if 'you weren't here'!

NO

Charles Manson has got a better chance at getting hired at W&K im afraid.

They have about as much chance of getting hired as England winning Euro 2008.

this is SO true.

and therefore yes i do agree wal will get hired.

But W+K is mean they don't hire placement teams, keep stringing you along and then wave goodbye and break your heart by advertising on their blog that they are looking to hire people.
So not being hired there is no reflection on your creative abilities.
Their just meanies in shordich clothing

here here

Go for it guys - you never know. It doesn't matter what we all think Yes/No to you getting a job at W&K... it's down to you and how much you really want it.

I'm amazed how long you've been going at placements and how happy you seem to be with that, plus managing on a pittance of a wage.

You guys should go to Albion, they think they're W&K but they do really crap work.

Maybe you'll have a better chance there?

Anonymous said...

ha ha
so true.

I think if they want they'll enough they'll get it, can't talk from experience as we're just hitting the placement circuit but Jai & Wal seemed to be pretty keyed in.

Perhaps they are just getting a feel for what suits them best!?

Sometimes we hire folks at W+K on a permanent basis after they've done a placement stint. (e.g. Noe.)Sometimes we keep them on for an extended period beyond the placement to see how it goes. (e.g. Freddie and Holly.) If their work goes into production we always keep them to see it through. In the cases where we keep them for a bit longer we tend to give them a rise from placement rates.
We do not discriminate against the non-weird.
Looking forward to having you here, Wal.

Besides Neil's comment at the end, this might be the worst reem of comments I've ever read. Chances of being hired or not, enjoy yourselves at W+K, Wal and Jai!

Anonymous said...

neil what about the team (and there was one) that was strung along for almost a year?

Anonymous said...

I can't think who the 'strung along' team was. I'm afraid you'll have to give me names.

Anonymous said...

thanks neil, we're both looking forward meeting you.

go in and make an impression!

What'll you do to introduce yourselves to the agency this time?

Guys, you'll love W+K. Creating amazing work and working with great people.

We loved every minute of it and we learnt bundles.

I don't know, guys. I don't think it's up to any of people commenting here. Not even, Touchy Neil. It's up to yourselves.

To be honest, I think you try too hard to be likable and charming. You're sweet guys but you should take it easy. No one is going to value or respect you more for making silly boxes with your faces. Or maybe they will but is it really who you want to be? the doodle do make n' do couple? I want to believe you've much more than that on offer.
Do you really want to keep listening all that patronising 'wisdom' from such legends of advertising as Anonymous, Amy Winehouse, ProxyKid or a guy named Borat?

Even if they have jobs at Mother or Fallon or W+K. They're nobody, they've done nothing worth mentioning because believe me, if they would, they won't be reading this blog.

In case all my rambling has confused the two of you I'll sum it up:

Give up your arts & crafts fair and arse licking tactics. Just concentrate on the fucking work and you'll be all right.

totally agree with the last guy.

think a lot of people visit your blog to see what daft thing you are up to next.

without being mean I think blogs have had a negative effect of young teams, where as it's a good way of getting you face out there you really have to back it up with great work... do you have any?

the same can be said for the blog 'all about the crit'... it's all very well creating loads of PR about yourself but that ain't going to get you a job if your work is shite.

It's seems you are not in a hurry to get a job, happy to plod along doing placements...

the longer you stay on the shelf the less attractive you are to an agency so quit the fannying about lads and get in before its too late.

good luck at W&K

Anonymous said...

I agree with the point about being on the shelf too long. People start to think there's something wrong. It's difficult to say how long this period is, but I think it's more to do with how many placements you have done.

If 10 agencies didn't want you....

Good luck at W+K.

You should display an "expert knowledge of football" while you're there...
