Fresh sounds from south africa: Die Antwoord is about to release their second album very soon. These guys are really something else, last year I visited a live gig in Hamburg – it was definitely the most extreme concert I've every had the pleasure to attend.

Colette Secret Island

Colette is a store well known for their eclectic music collection and on my last trip to Paris I was lucky enough to pick up this gem of a disc. It's a compilation of 16 tracks that help you to escape whatever desk you're tied to and get lost in the middle of the Pacific Ocean to discover a secret island where both summer and day dreams are endless. Listen in to it on iTunes. Below is the first track which pretty much sets the tone for the whole experience.

Chemical Brothers on the beach

There's not much time left in Tokyo to have fun so on saturday I've set out to the Big Beach Festival 2010 with fellow W+Ker Marek & friends. Headliners were the Chemical Brothers with an out of this world 3h DJ set on the beach, during sunset, with japanese fireworks. Other highlights were Zombie Disco Squad, Sasha and Groove Armada. The sound system was fantastic and the Tokyo crowd seemed to know how to enjoy a music experience on the beach. More please.

On today's late sunday afternoon just outside Yoyogi park near Harajuku Station some Tokyo Rockabillies are having some fun. My favourite dancing part starts 2 minutes and 5 seconds in. I should learn some of those dancemoves.

W+K Tokyo Lab

One of the many things W+K Tokyo does to keep fresh is W+K Tokyo Lab – a hybrid music label concept. They collaborate with all kinds of Tokyo artists to create music, visuals and other creative expressions to create new experience. Here's a new music video that they've created for Chinza Dopeness. Maybe we'll get a chance to get involved in some kind of way.

Sounds from the cloud

I'm a music collection addict, actually music is the only thing I collect. If I hear a good song I need to get it onto my hard drive. (Insight: nowadays people collect less actual stuff but way more data & information)

My iTunes library is completely sorted without missing album covers and of course everything is labeled correctly. I feel like I need to 'own' the music. Here at Hyper (and Sweden I guess) quite a big part of the music is listened through Spotify. I have a hard time liking this app, I can't imagine not having my music collection. Robbin, a fellow art director, has deleted his extra large (over 40 Gig) music collection and switched to Spotify completely for his music needs. He describes it as a very fresh feeling, a cleansing of old music. I won't go that far (yet?) but I should get out of my comfort zone and will have a iTunes free week. Let's see if I can survive on sounds from the cloud and discover some new audio goodness in the process. After all, music is part of my business.

Looks like Nike and W+K Portland are also figuring out the magic of Hyper. Quite rad.
They seem to be doing good things recently.

The sun is shining. Bob's voice is flowing from the agencys' sound system. Even though he just shot the sherriff he's telling me not to worry. And I'm not, everything's gonna be alright. We're here for another week. Loaded with work, we made a concept that we're really happy with and the clients' signed it off, production is going to be great fun.

What is you favourite deadly sin?

Eating shit, killing babies, beating Jude to death, anal sex, murdering a man of the law, pissing on the stage, throwing shit at the audience, spitting spitting spitting, tearing off Satan’s penis and beating him with it, farting, singing about rape, whores, paedophiles and rotten grandmothers. Those are just a few of the things the Tiger Lillies shared with us last night when they guided us from heaven to hell in the New Player Players Theatre in their new cabaret piece '7 Deadly Sins'.

Ninety minutes filled with darkness, laughter and obscenity left us entertained and our souls stained with macabre joy, greedy for more. In their words: 'Only fools and idiots are optimistic'.

To podcasts. I'm currently catching up with American Copywriter, it's great fun, two guys from Kansas enjoying their job, my favorite episode is the Jedi Copywriter Special Edition, don't miss out on it.

What seems to be another interesting project evolving is How I got a Job in Advertising, a creative on it's way to a job in the idea business. Both podcasts are from the states and it gives you a glimpse about adworld over there. In between I'm chilling with Lounge Radio, fantastic music. What do you listen to? Are there any British creative podcasts? Enlighten me, please.

Black Cat White Cat

What a wonderful day for no reason. Maybe it's Thursday approaching me unexpectedly with the feeling of the weekend in a hidden pocket. The delicious cappuccino coffee I usually miss out on in the morning? More likely the music I listened to during the battle of commute. I will share some of that on a distant day.

I have never written about a movie, I never intended to – there are enough movie review resources on the net. Yet there is Emir Kusturica, a director of sheer brilliance who made my single favorite movie picture – Black Cat White Cat. There is nothing else playing in a rectangular shape that can lift my mood into such joyous heights.

Every scene is packed with vitality and music, a purely beautiful combination that is, for me, Kusturica's trademark. The characters are escorted by a gypsy orchestra during all possible situations – old school portable music I say. A spectacle of absurd but amusing characters that has to be experienced with a Hollywoodless open mind. There was never a movie I thought about countless times and dreamt of watching it again and again. See for yourself, to get yourself in the right mood listen to Bubamara, the musical theme of this masterpiece that offers unequaled opportunities. You won't forget this melody after watching Black Cat White Cat.

I do not want to link to a trailer, as I don't like these short summaries of film in general, mostly they are unworthy – especially of this movie. I would not doubt that after this on screen performance you feel the urge to go o a journey and explore more of Kusturica's work, as there is way more to discover about this artist.
