I am looking for a creative partner but to be honest that video puts me off.good luck to your friend, though.
the single worst thing i have ever seen in my life.
that is bloody awful!!!!is it a joke?is it you Wal?
In the video it says that he's looking for an art director? or is that because he's such a bad writer he's put down the wrong thing?also firstname.lastname@example.org, does that mean he/she changes partners every year?
Good luck creativepartner08, I'm sure you'll find someone.Be great to see some more examples of people trying to find a partner this way. Any links?
Wal, do you think that clip is good?might explain why you have not got a job yet, it's soooooooo BAD.
my instincts are pretty friekin sharp.so sharp infact 3 seconds in they could detect this would be a bag of dead kittens.depressing. unneeded. and full of rotting pussy.to joseph keirs above. please can you delete the request for more examples of 'people trying to find a partner this way'.otherwise i may have to take a stanley knife to my thigh, remove my hip bone, proceed to knock out the nearest obese child, tie said bleeding obese child to myself, catch the 319 to battersea bridge and hurl myself off it.please for the love of god.
I've got to say the crocodile hiss at 12 seconds is pretty fucking scary...possibly the only funny bit in the piece... The 20 second bit is trying to be this:http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=FVI4p3s2veQ&feature=relatedIt's not a patch on it sadly... oh dear.
For your friends sake please take that down.
He'll be snapped up..After seeing that example of 'creativity' i'd avoid him like the plague.
that has to be the worst thing i've ever seen on your blog, and that's saying something.Truly hideous.
Didn't think it was a great video, but love the concept of exploring all avenues to contact a new partner. This is probably one of 100's of ways this guy is going about finding his 'mate'...perhaps not the best way of them all, but nonetheless it's proactive and I can't say I've seen any other examples of people using youtube to team up this year. Not a bad idea at all, just not a particularly inspiring exectution.
re 1.53not a bad idea! it a pun, and an awful one at that.I suspect you don't have a job in the industry so why not give him a call...
Did you not see this one:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vp6kaPlWJ04
The idea is to create a video to find a partner, why is that a bad idea? I still think it's a good idea.I think I wasn't clear, I thought the execution of the above idea (make video/find partner) wasn't too good (pun). But I maintain that it's not a bad idea. Do you still disagree? If I wasn't in this industry why would I want to give him a call, don't be stupid here.
re 2.33Thats a lot nicer really, no pun. b gud to c more of these, nice conceptre 2.47I get that, thought it meant like the video was a good thinking.
hey im an art director, sounds like a good opportunity for me. as long as you like touching willies as much as i do we will get along like a house on fire!
Well, I'm sick of seeing these 'gurus' everywhere, but after watching this film I ended up enjoying it. It's entertaining and has an universal true. And by the way, I sent to a few others on my floor and they all agree, including a CD.
for me this video shows three things:- this guy is very proactive- he's looking for someone with passion for the job, that's the most important thing of them all- he knows who all those guys are, so he's got a clue what he's looking for
It also shows me 3 things- your mate's shit- your mate's a twat- your mate needs a slap round his boat
To whoever was asking about seeing more of promotion things like this, I remember being told about a copywriter who made a poster that said "I really need an art director" in (deliberately) bad handwriting. Simple and funny with an idea behind it. He got snapped up.Best example I can recall. I pass no comment on the video, except I don't Email people who use "wild thing" in their films UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!
Wal, you are a first class plonker trying to justify that crap video. It's cringeworthy.
It's not a great video, it very cliché......But I like it, it gets to the point in a very cheesy way. Some of you guys need to chill
First of all, this is constructive criticism, not trying to be a wanker here.Second, the biggest flaw i see in the video is your friend is not communicating very well why anyone should be interested in partnering with him. He's just making a generic statement 'creatives are wild at heart', uh yeah, i guess...but it doesn't tell me anything about your friend, it doesn't make me go 'fuck i really want to meet this guy, i might even dump my current partner'.I'm not saying it HAS to have a selling proposition but it has to be something that reflects HIM, not a generic statement.Pedantically yours.
Wal, your defense of this video shows three things.- Either you're too polite or you don't have a clue what good communication is. - He does have initiative and arguably passion to get things done, yes but that's about the only good things you can say from this video. And wal, I do admire and envy your optimism but sometimes people can benefit more from honest comments. C'mon dude, I know you don't think the video is good.- Having a clue who those guys are it's only crucial if you want to get a job at Campaign. I know people that didn't have a clue of who Jeremy Craigen was and got hired. By him.
Fcuk me, that video is the funniest thing I've seen in ages. What a c**t.Wal. don't remove this post, grow some balls and stop being Mr Nice Guy. If you really put that video up because you though it was cool then you are wasting your time on London trying to get a job.
Why is everyone so viscious, give the guy a break. he makes a bad video so what, good on him for making a video - they can only get better from now. If he is as bad as everyone says, then he'd probably have just as bad/good a chance of getting a partner any other way, but at least he is being proactive.any why on earth did someone say Jai is being Mr Nice guy, do you really expect him to start laying into his good mate's video?+ Would you want that, I think its much better he gives a different perspective than all the haters anyway.
Re: 02:49When I started to read your comment I thought that you were about to say something witty, but then, I guess you just blew up.I think your bitterness blinded you, as usually blinds most of the guys that leave comments around here. The statement says ‘THE BEST creatives STAY wild at heart’, and then the guy invites you (probably not you) to work with him to keep your instincts sharp. Why? Because he wants to be among the very fucking best. That’s why. That’s what it shows about him: ambition. And it shows that he wants to work with someone that aims as high as he, I reckon. Someone prepared to go the extra mile. Where the gold is. Only a twat can’t understand it for fuck’s sake. Now… you can argue that this video don’t make you want to dump your partner, but then my question is, have you ever seen an advert for this kind of brief that made you think that? Tough brief don’t you think? Most of the time, not even the award winning ads, for real brands, change your behaviour just like that.I believe that to be willing to dump a partner, you need to see a good portfolio first. And by that I mean, a book with lots of different and witty thoughts. Unless, of course, you hate the fucking bastard and want to run away from him a.s.a.p.I hate to play the attorney, but let me just tell you that these kind of ads are made only to make people like you and me aware that there is a bloke out there currently looking for a creative partner. And I believe we all know how tough that search can be. The idea may not be stellar, but it’s funny and it works. And for this kind of brief funny is as good as you will ever gonna get. It’s like when agencies advertise themselves. It doesn’t matter how good the agency might be, their own adverts somehow never get to the same level as their work. And when I say this, I mean very dull ads (most of the time not even funny), against outstanding work for other brands. Even the best agencies have this problem. And why is that? Because it’s very tricky to advertise creativity without showing your portfolio or sounding too arrogant. And when you do that, that’s when the advert starts to get dull. But hey, this would never happen to you. You are all fucking mavericks, that’s what you are! And the problem about advertising agencies advertising themselves and all the creative minds that ever crossed this world and had that kind of brief is that, in the end of the day, they never got the chance to work with mavericks such as yourselves. You juniors fucking make me laugh.I rest my case. But before I go I just want to say that if you want to judge the guy, do it after seeing his portfolio, only then, otherwise you are just being total twats. Specially if you guys don’t even have a partner.
re 2.55are you the dude who made the video?think so.
02:55:00 PMGood thing you hate playing the attorney cos you suck at it, mate.
I’m not going to enter in this discussion but I think ‘why can’t ad agencies advertise themselves’ a good topic. What do you say wal?
Although I'm leaving a comment on this topic, I'm not going to enter into this discussion either!
As someone above already said, I think you all need to chill out. This is just advertising for goodness sake. If you like it, fine. If you don’t, get over it. Goddamn, every time I come here I just feel I’m entering in a slaughterhouse.
@anon 11:52Do ad agencies need to advertise themselves? In many ways a pitch is an agency advertising itself and its creativity to get work, but beyond that they use awards and popular work to prove they can cut it.It's like being a comedian. You don't walk on stage and say "I'm funny!" People will tell you to piss off. If you -make- them laugh though they'll say "he's funny!" which is the way round you want.So it's not that they can't, it's just that they don't need to. Similarly with self-promotion films, it's all well and good making one but how do people see it unless you just SPAM people with it or get it linked to on bLogs? And if you're doing that you might as well make a good portfolio site and do the same, or at least put a URL at the end of the film. In many ways, despite the message, the video fails at advertising as people are more likely to check out a link then cold-call an Email address. (s)he's not aiming to be a digital creative I guess?
I noticed that when Jai and Wal were kind enough to post a wealth of information and advice given to them by Matt Keon (which they had no reason to do bar helping others in a similar position), all of negative comments disappeared. Now that the posts refer to themselves, or friends, it's open season again....interesting that.Constructive criticism is fair enough, attacking Jai and Wal for lack of anything else to is pointless. It doesn't do anything for them, it doesn't do anything for the commentator. Most of these comments are just born out of spite.....& assuming most of those commentators are creatives, the lack of originality is surprising; One attacks Jai and Wal, the rest follow. as you all know too, it's easy to go with the negative.Maybe, rather than just slating J & W, go and cheer yourself up; Have a coffee, write a poem, go abroad, have a w*nk if it helps. Whatever, just write something positive for a change....
that was positively dreadful.
As was that.
I've just had a wink...
Now my keyboard's a mess.
And nobody loves me.
I'm currently desperately looking for a partner. Like the rest of the internet I think this video is absolutely appalling but.....
but what douche?
But I might get in touch..Your a friendly fellow aren't you, have a bad day? Want a massage?
It's 'you're' not 'your'. I take it YOU'RE not a copywriter. Sorry. Just a thing I hate.
I take it you've not got many friends.
2:34/6:58/1:04/3:22Judging by your 'style' I'd say you're same person. I'd also say, from your comments, that you're a random chav who stumbled across the blog rather than a creative/planner etc.Especially as it took you about five hours between 'funny' comments to think of the next one. To be fair you might have been checking comments in between to see if anyone had laughed yet.And Kree8tif, nice hip hop name for a 12 year old audience.
