jai&wal at adam&eve

We’ve been on a placement at adam&eve since Monday and it’s quite sweet. Being a start up it’s around 20 people big and everyone is a busy bee. Originally we were penciled in for a month, however it's now two weeks as there aren't many briefs floating around. So out of desperation we're performing daily rain dances after everyone leaves asking for more briefs.

yet we were informed that they might cut it after two weeks if work won't be around.

Our first brief is for the Telegraphs online dating service, Kindred Spitis. Wait, no, don’t bother looking up our profiles, we disguised those quite well (they are for research purposes only). The office is near Leicester Square, that makes it our first agency in Central London, as before we’ve been either West (Lowe & Leo’s) or East (W+K). Central ad ghetto's fun.

Of course there is an apple tree here, we are yet to bite into one. Would you?

Shame they're cutting your placement, I might say slightly short sighted of the agency... It's been what 2 and a bit days since you've been there and they want to cut it short already.

I appreciate there might not be much work, but if you're keen and wanting to stay I'm sure something could be worked out for both sides.

I assume it's only placement wages, so I'm sure they'd get there monies worth out of you.

Impress them with your telegraph work, if you've time on your hands set yourselves briefs - you know how all of this works anyway.

Best of luck

That's a shame, 2 weeks doesn't seem like very long at all but at least you've still got a chance to produce some cracking work.

Good Luck guys, I'm sure you'll be working your asses off. Be cool to hear what you think of working in a small place after you're finished.

You've got 8 days to change their minds. If you guys produce awesome work they won't let you go.

Easy

Guys, that sucks. How can they judge you on 2 weeks? Email me - I have some advice for you.

It sounds good to me...another placement to add to list. That is the whole point of your blog isn't it?

Wal's tour of London ad agencies. Once you've exhausted the fair capital perhaps you could start visiting some of the regional agencies?

I think 3.22 has a good point...

where to next wally?

You can see 3:22's point though - it's well documented Wal particularly has been on a number of placements now!

I won't bother naming them all...

2 weeks sounds poor to me, you won't/can't get an awful amount out of that, and neither will the agency. Sure add it to your CV, but that's not the aim, a job surely is.

i think jai wouldn't mind eve :D

i think jai wouldn't mind a new partner who can get him a job

that's a bit below the belt

i wonder how long it'll take for wally to lose it and fucking snap?

that's something i'd pay to see.

2 WEEKS!

if you had any balls you would have said thanks but no thanks and walked.

sorry lads you must have made a bad impression as I bet there will be a new placement team in straight after you.

how long can you plod along, workshops are for teams straight out of college and you should be looking at every placement as a route to a job, not as a few weeks of fun.

sorry to be so negative but your blog is like groundhog day.

what's not to like about it then, previous anon?

Groundhog day is a fantastic movie.
Bill Murray is legend.

Do you fella's want a placement round my house? I got some dirty dishes that need doing and my wife needs servicing while i'm at work.

wals run around the agencies should be turned into a film. it would be amazing. i'd even pay to go and see it no times.

Maybe you should lay off Wal for a bit, he knew that adam and eve were not looking to hire. (Come on, they have 2 years worth of placements booked in advance, and all they're looking to hire is a mid weight team. Placements are a mere cheap labour. Even if they get work out within the next week, chances are they won't keep them. If they're fair, they might take them on as freelancers to see it through.) As I understand, it's better to do something and get some sort of experience, than it at home and work on and on with your book. Besides, the boys are doing d&ad, surely that's adding to an already not a bad book. So good luck guys.

Adam and Eve have just hired Ben and Emer from DDB, why they want to go to that shit house i don't know.

Well catually i do, it must be the money.

We saw Ben on tuesday, he was keen to get us in, but we spoke to him the next day and said try next week as they were busy with a pitch.

Obviously at this rate next week may be next time they have work going around especially if you are struggling in the first week for briefs.

Fortunately we have Inferno for a month so we have cover to wait for A+E to find more work :)

drop us a line if you feel the urge

You would think it'd be useful to get people in to help out with a pitch, placement teams are usually eager to show what they can do and that would surely only benefit an agency when pitching for work...?

Jai/Wal why not try to get yourselves involved in this pitch if there is one?

the pitch is already over, we're getting a new (tv) brief on monday.

crap, dont get your hopes up for a&e, they have quite a few teams lined up, we know the guys who are next in line.

not suprised with the hype around a&e that everyone wants a piece of them.

we're persistant though a month after them won't be bad
