Advertising Plannng School of the Week

My friend Jai & I participated in the new Advertising Planning School of the Week. It used to be led by Russell Davies but now Rob Campbell has taken over. His brief was delightful and made us participate for the first time in a planning exercise as creatives. We very much enjoyed it. The brief was:

HOW CAN YOU ENCOURAGE MEN TO BUY A HUMMER OVER OTHER 4×4 VEHICLES - DESPITE BEING BIGGER, MORE COSTLY AND MORE EXPENSIVE TO RUN THAN THE COMPETITIVE SET.

[The Brand Essence of Hummer [for this exercise] is TOUGHER THAN TOUGH

Thank you very much for the challenge – we are curious about the results. Here is our answer.

Hello there ... I am so glad you enjoyed the assignment and I am even happier that as creatives, you took it on.

I think [hope] you know I am passionately against this PLANNER vs CREATIVE attitude that seems to be rising up so want to say thank you for getting involved and hope to have feedback from all the judges in the next few weeks.

[And don't worry, I have creatives as judges too, ha!]

I love your ad. ffUCK planningING. FucCk resUrch. Fuckk CreYativity. Fuuuuck everyFing. Just stick with the big idea. all this other stuff is just the path you drive the big idea on. There are so many morons in this business now trying to control everything and they end up just generating a pile of castrated sanitized crap because they try to drive the road when they should be driving the car. It makes my blood boil. What makes shit shit is the shitty smell. TAKE AWAY THE ESSENCE AND YOUVE GOT CRAP. WELL DONE LADS. aND NOW FOR THE REAL CHALLENGE...THE SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE AD THAT WILL RUN IN THE PRESS. YOU HAVE TO FCUK UKFC. tHAT'S A NICE LITTLE CONUNDRUM TO THINK ABOUT INIT....
