The contracts are signed and our tickets are booked – Robbin and I are going to Wieden+Kennedy Tokyo. We had a fantastic Skype interview with their new ECD's Naoki Ito and Frank Hahn and they decided to take us in for three months to work on Playstation, Nike and Google over in their Japan. So I guess this blog takes another turn from Creative in London, to Stockholm over to Creative in Tokyo.

Boastful - but good on you!
Big congrats - it'll be an amazing experience and just reward for your efforts since graduating.
I'm sure many will be envious, including me!
Look forward to seeing some great work from Tokyo.
Great stuff! Many congrats Wal, you deserve it.
'Boastful'?! What ridiculous comment, after all his hard work and enthusiasm...he's got what he deserves and is allowed to be excited.
Great stuff.
Luucckkkyyyyy! :D
so after a year you get a placement? you were on placements before hyper island - so what was the point
05:57 - that's one way of looking at it. The other way of looking at it, the correct way, is that Wal's got a placement/job trial at probably the most exciting agency in the world right now...it's not like he's going to JWT to dick about on kenco radio ads. Also, it's pretty rare to get hired anywhere straight out of uni/a course without some sort of working trial.
ok, let me get this right...you left freelancing in london, to go on a year course, now you've done that course and now your on placements again?
what is fucking wrong with you?
I couldn't agree more. Resilience and tenacity is a great trait to have in this type of job.
Good luck Wal.
Fuck that. Wal was freelancing at a two bit nut job digital agency on the other side of london - creating banner ads and little 8 bit computer games. Now Wal has got the chance to prove himself at one of the best agencies in the world - on the other side of the world.
Wal has made a very brave decision - not to settle for the mediocre and strive to find a place that pushes the boundaries of creativity. So good on you Walle.
Now i just have to sit back and wait for a few smart ass remarks in reply from a few jealous ad folk. Bring it on.
Good luck Wal.
Thanks a lot people, i dont care if they call it internship, freelance or a job, i just want to work with great people on great stuff.
i wont deny that i'm envious. not just of the placement itself but of the fact that i couldn't afford to do this myself.
money doesn't appear to be an issue for you, wal. as bitter as that makes me, a congratulations are in order as it is still a very good agency. best of luck.
All the best guys.
when do you start?
Been a long time coming and yes you've worked hard for it, under the spotlight too (although you chose that). Don't be surprised at some of the comments - wouldn't you be envious of someone in your place?
Best of luck. I hope it works out for you. Surely you want that job now, so go get it! Don't settle for a nice stint at a fab agency for 3 months...
This is awesome news wal! you guys will have a really good time in japan. expect a bit of a culture shock though. people and the way japan is run can sometime feel very alien, but i got a feeling you will embrace that. exciting agency, exciting country. cant get better than that can it? Im super jealous! Good luck Wal, you really do deserve this.
Ganbatte!
Christen:)
Cheers christen, it's so awesome that you guys teamed up now, perfect match! Also well done on your new job, very cool :)
Nice one Wal. As I said, it's all pretty exciting stuff over there.
Where were the 15 offers?
Good luck Wal. Your life is really turning into a bit of an adventure. Hopefully this opportunity leads to something permanent as you don't want to string together another list of placements on your CV. I look forward to keeping tabs on your progress on wish you all the best.
