WKStatus

Woo, Wednesday, middle of the week. The last couple of weeks have gone by way too quick. It's our fourth week here at Wieden+Kennedy. In our time here we've worked on Nike & Lurpak. The latter bought our idea for a digital campaign which is going into production soon if all goes smoothly.

This week's been pretty quiet for us, although we constantly keep bugging traffic and everyone else there are no briefs on our table. So we're spending our time making a short movie, an assignment every placement team gets here. It has to include a horses head.

Come Friday we'll have a review with Tony D, so all is good and exciting.

  1. Well now this is great news guys. Congrats. When it comes to deal with envy, just let the work do all the talk. I was about to ask you how is everything going at WK, but it seems you already answered. About the horse head, do the guys at WK have some sort of a geek thing about The Godfather? ;) Cya tomorrow mate.

  2. What's this? A post that's been up for more than 12 hours without some smart arse slagging you guys off again? Is Wednesday their big night out or something?

    Good luck...

  3. Idea for short movie.

Film yourselves saying "We made him an offer he couldn't refuse".

Then slap the horse's head on Tony D's desk. With a note saying "another week?". Film his reaction. Post it here.

Or completely ignore everything i said.

I'd totally ignore your advice, especially after checking out the work on your blog.

  6. wise move to remove the last post No More Suits.

is this not your blog... http://itwouldneverrun.blogspot.com/

    man, some dross on there.

  7. If you're going to insult me and my advice, why don't you grow some balls and leave your name. Put some weight behind your point of view instead of cowering behind an anonymous post.

You don't have to agree with anything I say, that's the whole point of having an opinion. But at least I'm not afraid to show my opinion came from me.

By the way, I haven't put any work up on my blog so I think you're a bit confused. But if I had, then again, you are entitled to your opinion, but you would probably leave another anonymous point.

So how would I be able to listen to your point of view and take it seriously, if you haven't got enough confidence in what you say to sign off with your name?

  8. Mate the whole point of

    http://itwouldneverrun.blogspot.com/

is to show crap work. If you took the time to read the description it says "For work that is just plain shit"

So if you want to insult that work go ahead, that's the whole point of the blog.

    Good day to you sir.

  9. Oh and just for clarification. The crap displayed from there is from a number of people.

In fact, if you have anything that you want to send I’d be happy to post it, anonymously of course.

  11. I love the comments on here, it's bitchier than Big Brother, I think C4 should just people yourselves in the house and you can all argue the whole time (Anonymously of course).

Glad the placements going well Wal.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Yeah its great for Watford student to have a reunion at cream and console each other for not having jobs yet, maybe some of the CSM juniors will be looking at your books so careful what you say here.

  15. Good come back, did they teach you that at watford?

  17. a bit emotional aren't we no more suits? I have to say both of your blogs aren't great. Why don't you focus in doing great work instead of hosting shit?

Wal, I wish you all the luck in the world. Now being completely honest, I don't think your book is very W+K. It's too safe for them.

I remember the book of this all girl team they hired, very provocative. Mostly shit of course, but they had a good pair so, you know.

  18. Tony abc. You can't please everyone. I enjoy blogging so I do it. Nothing more nothing less. I've never once advocated either of my blogs as being great. It's just my opinion at the end of the day as the above post is yours.

  19. no more suits... do you have a job advertising or on the placement scene with our Wal?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Placement scene. We all got to start somewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  21. i like your blog 'it would never run' no more suits, it's an idea graveyard and it's good for a laugh.

    ReplyDelete
  22. (sight) and people wonder why wal doen't have a job yet...

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hi Wal,

i heard on the grapevine your book is made of of work done with previous partners and is not just 'Jai&Wal' stuff....is this true and is this fair showing a book done by a collective?

    ReplyDelete
  24. 90% of our book we've done together. the rest is leaving soon as well.

    ReplyDelete
  25. wal, you nervous about Tony D later? think you'll be kept on?

    ReplyDelete
  26. hell yeah, i'm nervous.

    ReplyDelete
  27. you'll be cool, as long as you don't call him Tony D.

    Twat!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I don't think he's gonna call him Tony D Twat. Would be funny, though.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Sorry to hear you didn't get it, Wal.
You'll be fine, don't worry. It's not the end of the world. There's other places. Better ones. Hope you finally get there. Peace.

    ReplyDelete
  30. is that true? chin up old chap it will be fine

    ReplyDelete
  31. should have waited for the official statement, we're here for another week now.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hey Wal,

Looking forward to TBWA? Arn't you there when you finish WK?

    ReplyDelete
  33. forget TBWA, never going to hire a junior team when they have no ECD.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Some great agencies are being added to your CV, congrats on that.

What do you want from TBWA though? A job? More experience? What's the aim? If they seriously aren't looking to hire, why go? Couldn't your time be better spent on working to actually get a job!

Certainly enjoy your next placement, get some work out if you can, but make sure you leave with something that helps you progress.

Maybe looking for freelance work would do you guys some good. You've been out of uni long enough, and are capable of warranting freelance wages.

    ReplyDelete
  35. what, warrant freelance? no way.

no ones interested about a bloody cv in advertising, in fact being on placement at lots of agencies is a big negative.

you might learn lots but a creative director will think - if they where not good enough for lowes, leos, w&k etc etc etc they why would I hire them.

    harsh but true.
